Storms or sunshine, Team Sycamore are hitting the streets!

September seemed determined to make a dramatic farewell, but nothing could stop Team Sycamore taking to the streets of Ward 1. With just over four weeks until the election I want to meet as many of you as possible to discuss my platform and hear what you as a community have to say.

I was afforded this great opportunity this past Tuesday when I was invited to speak to the LeDroit Park Civic Association. It was wonderful to get know the community, who did not hold back when it came to the questions. It was also fantastic to see Commissioner Anita Norman discuss the use 311 and show the residents how they can make the community a safer place.

On Wednesday I returned to Park Morton to find out what it’s residents had been up to over the last couple of months. The discussion was as lively as ever as we spoke about everything from safer streets to access to affordable food options. It’s events like these that make me so excited to represent Ward 1 on the council in the new year.

Of course, you don’t need an invite to get involved in Ward 1, like Saturday’s Junk and Jam. Wandering the streets of Columbia Heights gave me a chance to speak to so many community-minded residents. Ending with entertainment in Columbia Heights Civic Plaza, it was the perfect way to enjoy a sunny Saturday afternoon.

With some good weather ahead of us, Team Sycamore will be out more than ever. Whether it’s volunteering with the campaign, or just coming over to say hi, we can’t do this without your support.

See you soon,

Jamie
