Labor Day Weekend in DC Ward 1

Public holidays are the perfect time to get together with friends and family, and nothing says community more than a block party! This past Labor Day I was fortunate enough to be invited to two such events in Ward 1.

Former Democratic Mayoral Candidate Ernest E Johnson hosted a party for his neighbors and their children, complete with an army of volunteers manning the grill. As well as feeding stomachs, he also fed minds and used this gathering to hand out school bags to local youngsters. As we filled backpacks with items that as a child I took for granted, I felt grateful to be giving an opportunity to make a difference to these youngsters lives.

Just down the road ANC Commissioner Miss Vicky, was hosting her own party. It was not only a fantastic way to relax with good people, but it gave me an opportunity to get to know the Ward 1 community even more and what they’re looking for in a Councilmember. I want to thank both my hosts for giving me this opportunity to meet their neighbors.

With Labor Day now behind us, Election season has begun, and this is where we need your help. Sunday, September 9th is Adams Morgan Day, the longest running community event in DC, and Team Sycamore is proud to be joining this tradition. Please join us at our booth, put on a t-shirt and help us let the community know about team Sycamore and our platform!
